How do I get repaid for the time that I missed from work?

A: If you have been injured from an auto accident, whether in Philadelphia, Bucks County, or Mercer County, NJ, you have a right to be repaid or reimbursed for your lost wages if you did NOT cause the auto accident. There are a few ways to get repaid for the time that you lost from work.

The quickest way to get reimbursed for your lost wages is from YOUR AUTO INSURANCE POLICY. Check the Declarations Page of your auto insurance policy to see if you purchased lost wage coverage on your policy. If you have missed time from work, your auto insurance company may require you to prove that you were working at the time of the accident. Your insurance company should pay you for lost wages up to the amount that you purchased on your auto insurance policy.

Another way to get paid for missed work is to make a claim against the PERSON WHO CAUSED THE ACCIDENT. In order to get paid for your lost wages, the other driver's auto insurance company, also known as the 3rd party insurance company, will make you:

1. Prove that you were employed,

2. Prove the amount of your wages, and

3. Prove that you could not work.

Your doctor must write you a DOCTOR'S NOTE stating in writing that you were not medically able to work. Unfortunately, most 3rd party auto insurance companies will not pay you lost wages until and if there is a settlement of your entire personal injury claim. This could take years...

If you were injured in a Mercer County, NJ auto accident, or you were a Pennsylvania resident who was involved in a Mercer County, NJ auto accident, you may be eligible to New Jersey State DISABILITY PAYMENTS.
