Recent study shows texting while driving is on the rise

Despite the efforts states are making, a recent study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) found that more people are texting and driving. The survey showed that:

• Texting and driving was up 50 percent over the last year
• Nearly 3,100 (3,092) people were fatally injured in crashes involving distracted driving

A look at young drivers

According to the NHTSA study:

• Eighteen percent of young drivers admitted to texting and emailing while driving
• Half of those were between the ages of 21 and 24
