Avvo.com is a relatively new lawyer rating service.  Avvo.com is probably the most comprehensive lawyer rating service now available because it uses an algorithm (similar to Google's search engine) which is based on many different factors or attributes of a good lawyer.  Each attribute is given a certain weight based on Avvo's secret formula.  Avvo has been sued by several lawyers who did not like their rating score.
